Mission Statement
The mission of The Jake Cassell Fund is to provide resources to non-profits, schools, and similar organizations who provide services to special needs children, teens, young adults and their families in underserved communities in the Mid-Atlantic states and beyond. We will accomplish this objective by aggregating donor dollars through fundraising events, corporate sponsorships and by establishing ourselves as a trustworthy steward of grant awards from larger foundations.
Vision Statement
The Jake Cassell Fund’s vision is to establish itself as a trusted grantmaking organization through which impactful foundations and corporations can distribute funds to grass-roots organizations serving the special needs community. The universe of non-profits serving the special needs community is wildly fragmented and fundraising is difficult, time-consuming and inefficient. We aim to partner with well-resourced foundations and corporations to identify and facilitate support for smaller non-profits and schools across America.
Reason for Being
We established The Jake Cassell Fund to honor the life of Jacob Brian Cassell. Jake, who was on the autism spectrum, was a kind-hearted, happy and love-filled young man who had a heart for service and consistently exercised empathy toward others. Through The Jake Cassell Fund, we are endeavoring to extend his love and legacy to special needs children, young adults and their families throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. The Jake Cassell Fund exists to direct donor dollars to deserving special-needs service providers working in underserved communities. We exist to bridge the gap between the wealth of donor dollars in the United States and the small organizations that lack the visibility and/or bandwidth to tap into that pool of resources.
Core Values
- Matthew 25:31-45. –We believe that serving those in need honors God and follows the clear instruction for empathetic and sacrificial giving spelled out in Matthew 25.“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did you see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

- Financial integrity, responsibility and frugality – We are committed to maximizing our impact by minimizing overhead while supporting organizations who demonstrate a similar commitment to efficiently delivering world-class services to their community.
